2009 Hong Kong Art Exhibition

Dwelling 斗室 (2009)



Hong Kong is world-renowned for its high population density. An uniquely utilizing practice of living space cultivated from this compact living culture inevitably affects the changes of Hong Kong Art’s contents and styles. Three segments: ‘Space for Practice’, ‘Space out of Space’ and ‘Space as a Metaphor’ in this exhibition showcased works by 13 artists exploring meticulously and quietly in their cramped spaces, demonstrating their sensitivity to its compactness or symbolic interpretation.


“In this exhibition, it is intended to reveal a Hong-kong-style sensibility to tiny space and the representations of such interior through the imaginations and views of artists. It is because the issue of spacing is affecting to the artistic development of Hong Kong Art simultaneously.”
